My Favorite iPhone Puzzle Games

#1 – Drop7

drop7.png

Formerly known as Snap7, this game's objective is to score the highest points before the board fills up with balls.

They call it Tetris meets Sudoku I concur with that statement. (Coincidentally, I find pleasure in playing both of those games.)

  • The Tetris-style aspect refers to the colored balls dropping individually, not continuously, similar to Tetris blocks falling one by one.
  • In a similar way to Sudoku, it is crucial to focus on the numbers displayed on every individual ball.

In Drop7, numbers are not added up like in Sudoku. If you're not a fan of Sudoku, you'll still find enjoyment in this game for its unique gameplay.

It’s the An original twist adds excitement to Drop7's gameplay.

In order to "clear a row" or square on the 7x7 grid, you strategically eliminate balls one by one, selecting the row or column for each ball placement.

  • In case the ball lands in position #3 within a row or column where there is already a ball marked with #3, all balls bearing the same number will disintegrate, thus creating some space on the board.
  • Stated differently, whenever a ball's number corresponds to the total balls in its row or column, all balls with that number vanish from the respective row or column.

Bonuses are awarded when the drawn number matches a square with a gray "bonus ball" adjacent to it.

Receive additional bonuses by eliminating a full row of 7 balls with just one drop.

I have been engaged in this activity for numerous years, and I am confident that there is still much more to uncover about its intricate workings. One of its remarkable qualities is its dual nature - although it can be quite complex and challenging, it also offers simplicity and requires minimal cognitive effort to participate.

My high score on Drop7 is 231,173 so far.

From the official description:

Quickly grasp the distinctive gameplay feature, yet endlessly refine your tactics. (Absolutely! Easy to start, but the challenge keeps you engaged for good.)

Choose from 3 modes of play:

  1. The relaxed Normal Mode.
  2. The fast-paced Hardcore Mode.
  3. Experience the enigmatic Sequence Mode, where all players worldwide receive identical discs, putting your strategic skills to the ultimate test!

I have been focusing on the Normal mode, which provides a satisfying level of challenge for me at the moment.

#2 – Fuzzle

fuzzle-iphone-game.png

I began by exploring the complimentary edition of Fuzzle ( Fuzzle Free Upon trying this iPhone game, I immediately recognized its value. I gladly invested in unlimited play and bonus levels, knowing it's a keeper! full version of Fuzzle .

In Fuzzle, your main objective is to align 5 balls of the same color either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Once you successfully create a row of 5 or more balls of the identical color, they disappear, allowing you to proceed to forming a new line of 5 balls of the same color.

Here are some tips for playing Fuzzle:

  • fuzzle iphone game app You only move one ball at a time.
  • With every step you take, the grid of squares will be populated by 3 additional colored balls.
  • At times, the balls land perfectly; sometimes, they obstruct your path, requiring a move or starting a new line with 5 balls of the matching color.
  • Bonuses are activated by the appearance of multi-colored balls on the screen. You can utilize them as any color necessary to form a line of five balls of the same color.
  • Mega-bonuses are activated by the presence of a black ball in the cluster. They can substitute any colored ball to form a line of 5, eliminating all balls of the same color on the board, not just the specific row.
  • As the game progresses, the grid becomes increasingly filled with colored balls, making it more challenging to form a line of 5 balls of the same color.

Fuzzle requires less mental effort compared to Drop7, making it perfect for casual doodling or killing time without the need for intense focus on details.

My high score on Fuzzle is 1437 so far.

#3 – Sudoku

sudoku-iphone-game.png

Numerous Sudoku game iPhone applications are available. I have experimented with several of them to find the best.

I prefer the Sudoku game by Mighty Mighty Good Games, which is available for free.

In this Sudoku game, you can select your preferred level of difficulty: Easy, Medium, Hard, or Expert. Despite my preference for the Easy level, I still find it challenging.

For a FREE app, I think it’s got a lot of sophisticated features including:

  • The ability to pause the game (and the timer).
  • Utilizing small numbers in the corners of squares where multiple options are possible is a common practice in Sudoku, similar to how it's done in the traditional pen-and-paper version of the game.
  • Access hints to fill in numbers automatically whenever you're stuck. A helpful feature for a smoother experience.

I do not consider the game seriously enough to utilize these features, but I appreciate their availability.

Incorrectly entering numbers in Sudoku cells turns them red, indicating an error. Conversely, entering numbers correctly will turn them yellow.

My Favorite iPhone Word Games

As far as word games go, these 2 are my favorite.

Despite owning them for a few years and occasionally engaging with them, I must acknowledge that I still have much to discover about maximizing the potential of these two word games.

#1 – WordWarp is the easiest. It’s similar to Boggle .

Here’s how you play WordWarp:

  • Receive a set of letters and aim to construct numerous words using all the available letters efficiently.
  • You have the flexibility to rearrange the letter sequence, like shifting tiles in Scrabble, to discover fresh word combinations. WordWarp offers a straightforward approach.
  • By selecting letters in the correct sequence to form new words, you can enjoy a fun and engaging pastime. This activity is available for free in the basic version. Free WordWarp Equivalent to the paid WordWarp version, but includes advertisements.

#2 – WordWeaver This word game is quite challenging. While I recognize its potential and excitement, I still find it a bit difficult to fully grasp.

Perhaps I grasp the concept, yet fail to strategize effectively to appreciate the full uniqueness of this game. Despite this, it remains an enjoyable word game often referred to as "Scrabble on steroids."

The iPhone game stands out due to its exceptional features. you can:

  • Modify the characters in all 4 rows and columns for the required changes. any time you want.
  • Generate an infinite variety of words. Caution: More challenging than anticipated.
  • Play “beat the clock” because there’s a timer.
  • Engage in the word puzzle by effortlessly swiping your finger to arrange letters and form meaningful words.

I have the FREE version, WordWeaver Free . There’s also a full version of WordWeaver , but Lite is complicated enough for me!

#3 – An honorable mention goes to Words With Friends .

Engaging in online interactive word games with others is enjoyable, making it a must-try activity for me.

It looks like so much fun, and it’s very popular.

The best part: Engage in interactive gameplay with numerous players, whether strangers or friends you invite, simultaneously.

Engage in 20 distinct word games simultaneously with 20 different players!

There’s no timer, you just place your word on the board and wait for a notification that the other person has played their word. So… 1 game between 2 people could actually last weeks, depending on how faithfully each player pays attention to the game. I just don’t have an interest in dragging any game out that long.

There’s also a FREE version, Words With Friends Classic I have downloaded and played this one several times.

Are all iPhone games designed this way? I really like how all of the In games, the "save" feature ensures you resume exactly from where you stopped last time, providing a seamless gaming experience.
